The majority of Americans have errors and other unverifiable information on their credit reports that could be dragging down their credit score. Odds are good that your credit score is lower than it should be. The unfortunate thing is that odds are you will be yet another one of the millions of Americans who will continue to suffer with an unfair credit score because you will do nothing to repair your credit.
Most Americans want to believe the credit reporting system works; that people earn their bad credit and there is nothing they can do about it but wait for seven years. But study after study shows the credit reporting system frequently does not work. This is why the Fair Credit Reporting Act and other consumer protection legislation give you the right to do something about it - the right to make sure your credit score is as good as it can be.
So why is it that, though everyone has the right to dispute the negative items in their credit reports, very few people do? It certainly can't be because they don't understand the importance of a high credit score. After all, it doesn't take a genius to figure out the benefits of a good credit score when it can be the difference between paying $2,500/month and $2,000/month for the exact same house.
More likely, the reason people do not repair their credit is a mix of apathy and lack of understanding of the credit reporting system. Too many people assume the credit reporting system is some official government bureaucracy with an extensive system of checks and balances designed to ensure the safekeeping of their credit history. This couldn't be further from the truth.
The credit bureaus at the center of the credit reporting system are not official organizations. Instead, they are massive, for-profit corporations that collect personal information from your creditors and make money by selling this information in the form of your credit reports.
So now you are asking yourself, how do they ensure this information is correct? If a creditor reports something that is wrong, how do the credit bureaus make sure it doesn't end up on your credit reports?
The answer to both of these questions is: they don't. Your creditors report information, the credit bureaus record it, and for most people, the story ends there.
Nobody at the credit bureaus or in the government is going to make sure your credit reports are accurate. The way the credit reporting system is set up, there is only one person who will ever bother to check up on your credit reports - and that person is you. You are the missing, and ultimately the most important, piece of the credit reporting puzzle.
Making sure your credit score is where it should be is your responsibility and repairing your credit reports is a task you will have to initiate because no one out there will do it for you.
It is your right and your responsibility to dispute the questionable negative items in your credit reports and the sooner you start, the better. You can work to repair your credit on your own or you can enlist the help of a credit repair law firm like Lexington Law.
Whether you attempt to repair your credit on your own or with the help of a credit repair expert, by taking an active role in the credit reporting system, you can ensure your credit score is as good as it can be and that you have the advantage over the millions of people out there with bad credit who haven't taken action to do anything about it.

South Carolina Real Estate
by Lee Keadle
Many buyers search for South Carolina real estate but don't know where exactly in the state to live. I've listed below 5 of the most popular places to relocate in South Carolina.
Columbia is South Carolina's capital, and a lot of people choose to live here. It's centrally located to the beach and the mountains. It's one of the biggest cities in the state, and the population has grown to just over 120,000. Some of the biggest employers in the area are the University of South Carolina, the state government, and the hospital systems. Columbia (and Greenville) are the most affordable places to live in South Carolina that are also relatively good sized cities.
Greenville is located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and has cooler weather than the coastal areas of South Carolina. It snows usually about once or twice a year in the uppermost part of the state, and Greenville is the largest city in the upstate. It has an estimate of about 60,000 residents. This area has seen some of the largest growth for non-coastal areas in South Carolina, and it's expected to grow even more in coming years. The city has plenty to do and lots of nice areas, but it's also considered an up and coming area simply because of its past and projected growth.
Myrtle Beach is one of the most popular tourist areas in South Carolina. Every year, more than 15 million people visit South Carolina's coast, and Myrtle Beach is at the top of the list of beaches, statistically speaking. Although a lot of people in Myrtle Beach live there year round, it's considered more of a vacation spot. You'll find putt-putt courses and beach shops sprinkled throughout the area. It also has a lot of large hotels and condo complexes right on the beach. Myrtle Beach is the most coastal city on this list. The residential population is estimated around 23,000.
Charleston is known for its history and culture. Its economy is also based largely on tourism, and it has started to make its way into the international tourism and real estate markets as it's become the cultural hub of the state. You'll find historic sites, museums, and art galleries throughout the main peninsula and surrounding areas. Charleston is considered more of an upscale port city and has 6 beaches along its coast (plus several islands and towns further inland). Charleston is comparable to Columbia in size, at just under 118,000.
Hilton Head does not attract as many tourists, and it's known as a smaller and quieter coastal area. The AARP often lists Hilton Head in its top places to retire, but you'll find a mix of people there. Its population is estimated at about 33,000. Real estate prices are relatively high, as the town has strict development and commercial guidelines. The town incorporated these rules in an effort to preserve the natural setting that people associate with Hilton Head.

Beach Houses in Charleston SC
by Lee Keadle
Looking for beach real estate in the Charleston, SC area? You'll find 6 beaches in Charleston to choose from, and each one has a different feel to it.
Folly Beach is one of the most popular for residents and tourists. This is partly because it's the most accessible beach to downtown Charleston. It's also the most affordable for vacation rentals and for buying real estate. Overall, Folly Beach has a laid back feel to it, and it's the most popular beach for students and surfers. You'll find plenty of restaurants, bars, and beach shops along Center Street, so there's no need to leave the island to go out. But, if you want to drive to downtown Charleston, you're only about 15 minutes away.
Isle of Palms also sees a big demand from home buyers. It's the main beach that Mt. Pleasant residents visit, and it also sees a good deal of tourism. So, if you're looking for vacation home that you can rent out for vacationers, either of these beaches would be good for getting this additional income. Part of the island belongs to Wild Dunes Resort (see below), so not all of the island is accessible to the residents. Isle of Palms is 15-20 minutes from downtown Charleston, so you can easily go downtown for entertainment. Mt. Pleasant is about a 5 minute drive, so there are a lot of things to do within a quick drive of the beach.
Wild Dunes Resort is a private beach resort located on the northern end of Isle of Palms. Wild Dunes has great amenities, including several golf courses. You'll find a few restaurants (like a grill and a deli), but for the most part, residents leave the resort and go to either Mt. Pleasant or downtown Charleston. If you're looking for high end beach real estate with a close proximity to downtown, Wild Dunes may be a good option for you.
Sullivan's Island is located just south of the Isle of Palms, so it also is conveniently located to Mt. Pleasant and downtown Charleston. It's the most historic beach in Charleston, and it's mostly made up of houses. You'll find only a few condo buildings on the island. There are some beautiful older homes - some date back to the early 1900s. You'll also see newer homes, and these can be found more on the beach side of the island. There are only a couple of restaurants at the entrance of the island, so most residents and visitors leave the island for entertainment. Although Sullivan's Island has public beach accesses (like Folly Beach and Isle of Palms), it has a nicer feel to it. It's also considerably more expensive than these two beaches.
Kiawah Island is one of the most exclusive beaches in Charleston. It has the best amenities of any of the beaches - world class tennis facilities and golf courses, pools, a spa, and upscale restaurants. There is one public access on the southern tip of Kiawah. It is part of the Charleston County Parks, and has paid admission. Besides these park-goers, access is restricted to property owners and vacationers who are renting homes on the island. Kiawah is located further out from downtown Charleston - it's about a 30 to 40 minute drive.
Seabrook Island is very similar to Kiawah in that it's a private beach resort, and it's located directly south of Kiawah. It also has great golf and tennis amenities, but it also has an equestrian center. This is one of only a few community equestrian facilities in all of Charleston. Kiawah and Seabrook have the priciest beach real estate in Charleston and have a high status associated with the areas. They are also the most natural of the beaches. They have very strict building guidelines in an effort to preserve the wildlife and natural beauty of the islands.

Finding Charleston Style Homes in Charleston, SC
Few cities in the country have a style of house all their own. The Chicago bungalow and the Cape Cod are two styles that come to mind for having specific architecture associated with the area. In Charleston, SC, you'll find what's called the Charleston single. This is a single family house that is not very wide but is very long, and they're usually two to three stories. Residents started building these homes in the 1700s in downtown Charleston. Land was being sold at a premium, and these homes were designed to fit on smaller lots. The idea was to build up rather than out, so you'll see some historic homes in downtown Charleston with as many as five stories!

Who’s Your Poppa and Bring on the Bling – The Real Housewives of Atlanta
In the following episodes of the The Real Housewives of Atlanta a lot of interesting things took place. Nene received a letter from one of her family members who claimed that Curtis the man she knew as her father wasn’t really her biological father. This is shocking news to Nene who seeks counsel from a dear family member who tells her not to worry about it and brushes it off. But this doesn’t squelch Nene’s need to know. She places a call to Curtis to find out if he ever suspected that he wasn’t her father. To Nene’s surprise he had suspected this even before she was born. So after some contemplation Nene decides the best thing to do is to take a DNA test to find out the truth.
On the Real Housewives of Atlanta we also find out that we have some hidden talent in this group of women. Kim wants to be a country singer. Who saw that coming? But why is everyone shocked when she admits this. Not one of The Real Housewives of Atlanta knew about this. Nene even stated she never even heard the girl hum. Ding, ding, ding bells went off in my head. A singer who never sings? Something is very fishy about that. Have you ever known someone who wanted to be a singer? You can’t get them the shut up. Am I right?
Deshawn Snow of The Real Housewives of Atlanta was determined to pull off one of the biggest fundraisers in Atlanta for her foundation. Her goal was to raise one million dollars in one night. Keep in mind that this is her first time ever hosting an event this huge. Immediately, in The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s private takes we see how none of the housewives thought this would be possible, and definitely not in one night. But none of the housewives expressed this to her directly. Nene thought her goals were unrealistic, but she chose to be there for her and support her. Sheree just chose to talk about it behind her back. Sheree had the perfect opportunity to tell Deshawn when she asked her to participate in the auction. She didn’t want to participate because she felt things weren’t going to go well and she didn’t want to be a part of that. Because we all know how important she is, wink wink. It was like she was waiting for an I-told-you- so moment.
On a more positive note Lisa of The Real Housewives of Atlanta business ventures were taking off in the right direction. Lisa landed a distribution deal with jewelry mogul, Steven Zale.

Foreclosure is imminent so would it be possible to walk away from your home?
Are you one of many that is facing or considering foreclosure on your home? Have you ever heard about walking away from your home? I haven’t heard of this concept until I discovered this company called YouWalkAway.
Imagine being able to stay in your home for eight months or more and not having to pay a penny. They can help stop those harassing phone calls from mortgage companies. This service will provide a personalized plan just for you. You get a consultation with a real estate attorney in your state and you may even receive up to $5000 dollars towards your moving expenses. And what I found that was instrumental is that you get a YouWalkaway advocate to assist you throughout the entire process.
They offer a Forensic Loan Document Review to investigate your existing loan agreement. This technique is used to comb through your loan document with a fine tooth comb. They are looking for anything that that isn’t in line with the Truth in Lending Act that you signed. If something isn’t correct, something as little as being overcharged on your final Hud-1 document there might be a violation. This violation can give you some leverage when applying for a Home Loan Modification to improve your existing loan. In order to work with homeowners because of a hardship the lender may modify the existing loan.
You will need Foreclosure Protection to make sure that your lender follows all the laws in your state. Foreclosing on a home is a very strict procedure. It’s important to have someone on your side to help make sure that none of your rights are being violated.
YouWalkaway has been featured in several publications and news programs such as ABC News Now and CNBC. What I like about this program is that they offer a 100% Money back guarantee if you are not satisfied.
If you think this might be something for you weigh your options, investigate, and find out if you qualify. And remember always be smart in whatever you do.

Is it a Garage or Garbage Sale?
I’ve never been too familiar with garage sales. Nor have they interested me. Not until one day when my co-worker walked in with a slightly used radio with a cassette deck, CD player and a mini TV to boot. And to top it all off the owner left a Luther Vandross CD in it. All of this for the bargain basement price of $10 dollars.
My co-worker continued to boast about all of the finds she’d made over the years. She felt she hit the mother load.
My mouth began to salivate with all the possibilities of treasures to be had. With much anticipation I tossed and turned in my bed all week, waiting for the golden garage day, Saturday morning.
With my cup of hot chocolate in hand I began to strategize. My strategy was to only hit garage sales in the best neighborhoods in Charlotte. I scoured neighborhoods such as Ballantyne, South Park, Piper Glen and the prime parts of Providence Road.
But to my dismay I found out the hard way that all that glitters ain’t gold. I was horrified at what some of these garage sellers were selling. There were broken lamps, scuffed up shoes, torn clothing, one legged dolls, one eyed stuffed animals and the list goes on.
The best find I ever came across at a garage sale was a love seat and chair in excellent condition. It was a beautiful color and had plump sturdy pillow cushions. I bought if for my sunroom.
On one occasion I went to a garage sale of a Charlotte Bobcat player. I purchased a vacuum cleaner for $10 dollars for my cleaning business. When I returned home and tried it out it emitted an order similar to the smell of feet that we couldn’t get rid of.
Another garage sale I attended the family invited us into their home to take a look around. As soon as we entered the stench slapped us in the face turning us all the way around. There were clothes everywhere, boxes of things that I didn’t care to look into. And cats on top of everything, need I say more?
As we continued to explore additional garage sales we started a system. We would drive by the garage sale as slowly as we could. If we couldn’t see anything from the street then one of us had to get out of the car and quickly assess the situation.
That’s when we came up with the phrase “garbage sale.” You would cough and quickly mutter under your breath “garbage sale.” Once you heard the phrase “garbage sale,” you turned around, got back in the car and we sped off.
In my quest, I learned that one mans’ garbage is another man’s treasure. And some men’s garbage just needs to be thrown away.

Hell's Kitchen - Tuesday June 17, 2008
Last night’s episode wasn’t as hilarious as the previous ones. When it gets down to the final four they are generally the cream of the crop and less mistakes are made.
Last night's episode started off with a reward challenge, which Christina won by only 2 votes. Petrozza who was the runner-up was enormously disappointed. Jen thought she should have won hands down, but she only came in third place. Corey had no chance at all she wasn’t able to plate all her dishes within the allotted time.
Christina’s reward was a $1000 dollar shopping spree at Lisa Kline’s. To top it off she was actually dressed by Lisa Kline herself.
Side note: I wasn’t too impressed by the pieces that Ms. Kline picked for Christina. I expected to be blown away instead I was left feeling unenthusiastic.
As the other competitors remained at Hell’s Kitchen to complete their chores I noticed something strange. And maybe you did too. Jen was eating off the leftover plates left in the dining room. All I could do was curl my lip and say, “yuck.” You just don’t know what people do to their plates.
Chef Ramsey proclaimed that tonight’s service was the best ever in Hell’s Kitchen.
Still, there were a few mishaps in Hell’s Kitchen. Christina kept burning Chef Ramsey’s hand by leaving the pot handle over the heat. Chef Ramsey was hot about that.
Jen was inconsistent with her risotto and Petrozza had a sloppy station. Disturbingly, Corey sent raw fish to the window and out to a customer. She knew her order wasn’t right, but she sent it out anyway. I would never knowingly eat at a restaurant where the Executive Chef did those types of things.
Great News! It came back to bite her in the buttocks. She should have taken the yelling from Chef Ramsey about being late with her food. Rather than being caught sending up raw food.
With such a successful service it was a difficult decision as to who to put up for elimination.
But as usual Jen was put on the chopping block. The other competitors strategized as to who would have the best chance against Jen. And they chose Corey.
Luckily, for Corey their move paid off as Chef Ramsey sent Jen home.
I do believe of the final four remaining Jen was the better chef. She was creative and original and her dishes seemed to please the palates the most.
Although, I do believe Chef Ramsey was right in letting her go. You just never knew which Jen was going to show up at service that night. It’s extremely hard to work with a person like that.
Until next time Bon appétit!

How to Save Money on your Prescriptions
Always comparison shop if you can.
Unfortunately, people generally assume that they are getting the best deal on a prescription if they only have to pay co-pays. But sometimes co-pays can be higher that the actual cost of the prescription drug.
A very good way to save is asking for the generic brand whenever you can.
Always consult with your physician first to see if a generic brand will be suitable for you.
Consult your pharmacist. They can explain in detail if the generic contains the same ingredients as the name brand drug. The pharmacist can also let you know how generic brands differ from the original if they do at all. This gives you the chance to make an informed decision.
Physicians are often courted by drug company representatives. They are given free samples for their patients to try. Once the patient has tried the product and it works for them they generally begin to ask for the prescription by name. It is usually because the patient begins to identify that name brand with what ails them at the time. Why would they ask for anything different if that product works so well?
If all goes well with your physician and pharmacist. I know a great way you can save money on your generic drug prescriptions.
It’s Wal-Mart. Yes, that’s right Wal-Mart.
Wal-Mart offers many generic prescriptions for only $4 dollars. And they’ve also recently began to offer 90 day prescriptions for $10 dollars.
If you are insured and paying $25 dollar for your co-pay by requesting the generic brand you can save $21 dollars.
If you are uninsured and paying anywhere from $15 dollars and up, imagine how much you can save if you requested the generic brand and only paid $4 dollars per prescription. An even greater savings is $10 dollars for a 90 day prescription.
Visit a Wal-Mart store or go on line and obtain the list of all the generic $4 dollar prescriptions that Wal-Mart offers.
They offer a variety of medications that they have listed in specific categories. Ex. Diabetes, hypertension, Women’s Health, thyroid, mental health etc…
I recommend checking Wal-Mart’s list frequently if your prescription isn’t currently there. Wal-Mart adds new prescriptions and categories as they become available. Hopes this helps you.
Until then save save save!
Footnote – Target has recently added $4 dollar generic prescriptions.

Grace After Midnight By Felicia "Snoop" Pearson
The most chilling chapter I have ever read in any book was in Felicia Pearson’s memoir. It was the chapter called, “That’s why they call it Grandma’s House.”
After reading that chapter I had to immediately close the book. Imagining what happened was horrific and I knew I needed to end my reading for that night.
I first picked up this book because I was a fan of HBO’s “The Wire” and the series had just ended.
I wanted to know how someone so young could fill up the pages of a memoir.
My interest was piqued and that began my quest of finding out about this character they called, “Snoop.”
What I respected about her memoir was her honesty. No pretenses, no dressing it up—just plain truth.
This memoir takes you from the birth of “Snoop” who was a three pound cross-eyed crack baby. It takes you through her formative years, adolescence, to where she is today.
You are a fly on the wall of the life of an urban teenager growing up in the streets of East Baltimore.
Ms. Pearson grants you all access to her life. She shares her sexuality, her criminal past, her heartbreaks, and her loves.
This is a gritty in your face memoir well deserving of a read.

Monty's Seafood Grill, Charlotte, NC
Monty’s Seafood Grill located at 15205 John J. Delaney Dr, in Charlotte, NC.
Going to Monty’s Seafood Grill was a last minute welcome surprise. My family had been raving about this restaurant for some time. And their last two ventures I had missed, so I knew that the next time I definitely wanted to go.
I always felt that a personal recommendation beats out a generic restaurant review anytime.
Well, let’s get to it!
My first indication of quality began with the bread basket. The salads had already arrived and my sister inquired about bread. The waitress replied, “I’ll bring it right out to you—it just came out of the oven.”
Unless they have invented some new ovens that cool food instead of heating… I’m going to have to say she didn’t tell the truth.
We ordered fried calamari for our appetizer. I love calamari and I know what good calamari tastes like. And this wasn’t good calamari.
It was salty and greasy. Besides burning food the worst thing you can do is over salt it. Too much salt is an amateur mistake. No one should have to experience that while dining out.
For my entrée I had Roasted Lemon Thyme Chicken with home made fries, and collard greens.
The chicken was bland; the home fries were missing potatoes if that’s even possible. And the collard greens had some flavor but they were dirty.
My grandmother always told me, “You have to clean collard greens very well. Because if you don’t they taste gritty.” Someone should tell Monty this.
After our meal the hostess came over to the table and asked, “Did everyone enjoy their meals?”
My sisters piped up, “yes we did.”
Meanwhile one of my sisters’ had hid the fat from her filet mignon in the bread basket. And my other sister sent back her wedge salad because the dressing was disgusting.
But me, I didn’t answer.
So the hostess looked at my plate and asked, “And how was your chicken?”
My reply was, “It was all right.”
And her reply was, “well chicken is chicken.”
“Way to stand up for your restaurant,” I thought. But I really wanted to say, “Chicken can be tasty and seasoned.
I have three categories in which I put a dining experience in.
1. Recommended – Meaning I would eat there again and recommend it to others.
2. Toss up – Means you have to decide for yourself by visiting the establishment.
3. Drive By – Means keep on driving pass the restaurant.
So which category does Monty’s Seafood Grill fall in? I would have to say Drive by.
Until next time Bon appétit!

Are Black Men Expendable in This Country?
It is sad that in this country a black man must walk down the street practically naked in order to be safe from the people we pay to protect and serve us.
Public service announcements will soon read as this:
Attention All Black Males!
Please remove anything shiny from your person. Leave all cell phones, blackberries and keys at home. Keep your mouth shut; don’t even move your lips. Make no sudden movements, please. Or this may be construed as things that would make an NYC police officer fear for his life. If you don’t adhere to these precautions NYC police officers will aim and shoot. Not once, not twice but possibly fifty times or more. These officers will then appear before a judge and be acquitted of all charges. This concludes our public service announcement
Fifty bullets were fired. That’s right fifty bullets.
I shook my head back and forth when I heard the guilty verdict. But what was really disturbing was the fact that I wasn’t surprised by the verdict. My first thoughts were, ‘Are black men expendable in this country?’
But why wasn’t my first reaction outrage? It’s because unfortunately in this country we have been desensitized to verdicts such as these.
My heart cried out for all the men in my life; my fiancé, my brothers, nephews, cousins and extended family. But it also cried out for Sean Bell and his family.
Until we see white faces or hear names like John Smith, Jake Hall or Wyatt Long will we see a cry of outrage in this country.
Clearly, it is evident that policeman are afraid of black faces.
I understand what dangers policeman face everyday. I’ve lived in neighborhoods where I’ve had to watch my back as I’ve walked home from work some nights. I’ve carried paring knives in my purse for protection. I’ve had keys balled in my hand ready to strict if need be. I’ve had friends and family robbed, harassed and guns put to their heads.
But what is disheartening is where do we turn? It’s possible to be a victim of a crime any day of the week. And what’s more shocking is my friendly neighborhood policeman can take my life just as easily.
Sadly, I’d rather plead with a criminal to take all my money and my jewelry and spare my life. Than to say one wrong word or make one sudden movement in front of an police officer for fear I might be gunned down where I stand.
I think the Assistant District Attorney Charles A. Testagrossa summed it up nicely by saying, “We ask police to risk their lives to protect ours. Not to risk our lives to protect their own.”

Woods on South located in Charlotte, NC
Yesterday I had an opportunity to visit Woods on South Located at 2100 South Blvd in Charlotte, NC. I enjoy trying different restaurants. What lured me to this restaurant was the fact that it features Carolina Cuisine by Celebrity Chef Marvin Woods. To help you picture him he’s the African American Chef that wears a scarf on his head. He hosted “Home plate” on the Turner South network.
The advertisement for his restaurant quotes: “Chef Marvin Woods’ dishes are light, sophisticated & exotic!” -Oprah
So with the succulent description of the menu items and celebrity endorsement how can you go wrong?
Woods on South is in the building that was formerly occupied by South End Brewery. So for the connoisseurs of Micro-Brewed beers Carolina Beer Company has taken over. I would also like to mention that they offer beer tasting and tours daily.
We started out with a chicken and andouille sausage gumbo. Never having had gumbo before I thought I was in store for a rare treat. I found the gumbo to be so-so. It lacked flavor and spice. I would even have to go as far as to say it was bland.
Then we proceeded to try an appetizer “The Hallelujah Hot Wings” sounded as if they would be something to sing about. However, I didn’t find myself humming nor tapping my foot. I thought the chicken wings were a little undercooked. The chicken skin was a bit too soft for my taste. As far as flavor there was none. But it was hot. Hot like someone squirted hot sauce on the wings before they came out of the kitchen.
For my entrée I tried the Ashley Farms (NC) Flash Fried Chicken with Mac n 3 cheese and vegetarian braised collard greens. I would give the Mac n 3 cheese 3 out of 5 stars. The vegetarian braised collard greens seemed to be little overpowered by vinegar. I’m thinking maybe cooking them with bacon or smoked turkey offsets the vinegary taste.
I did enjoy the Flash Fried Chicken it was piping hot, fresh, properly seasoned with a lot of crispy crunch.
I have three categories in which I put a dining experience in.
1. Recommended – Meaning I would eat there again and recommend it to others.
2. Toss up – Means you have to decide for yourself by visiting the establishment.
3. Drive By – Means keep on driving pass the restaurant.
So which category does Woods on South fall in? I would put it in Toss up. If you have visited Woods on South leave me a comment letting me know your opinion.
Until next time bon appétit!
